Commodity Corridor

$300.00

I’ve become a “rockhound” in the past year, which has taken me some out of the way places across Arizona and New Mexico. On a trip to Chilito Mine, a defunct historic copper mine located along Arizona’s Copper Corridor, I was struck by a beautiful scene of cattle grazing in an expanse of green. It got me thinking about “Arizona's Five C’s” as they are known, which are: copper, cattle, cotton, citrus, and climate. In my mind, I added a sixth “C” – commodity – which I would argue ties all of these together – even climate. The cattle silhouettes in this scene were painted in the colors of copper minerals and then coated with genuine copper leaf. Bits of the copper mineral colors peek from the edges of the copper leaf for added effect.

Item measures 18x24” and is created with watercolor paint and genuine copper leaf on 140 lb. 100% cotton Arches hot press paper. It is sold unframed. Shipping is free.
