I snapped the photo that inspired this painting while hiking in Tucson Mountain Park. Obviously, I used a little artistic license with this one. :-) The last photo is the one from which I painted. You’ll see that the actual saguaro has had its top broken off. You see this quite often in the desert, and it always amazes me that they can not only survive, but thrive to the extent that they bloom and create fruit. If only we would all celebrate being alive like a saguaro!
