This landscape is from a photo I snapped in the Painted Desert just inside the entrance of Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona. I took a little journey down into the desert from the lookout. I’m not sure it was actually a trail, but from the footprints I saw, I was clearly not the only person who found the lure of this magical undulating landscape to be irresistible. The last photo inspired this painting.
